South Motorway (A6) is a motorway planned initially in 2004 for the route Bucharest - Alexandria - Craiova - Calafat (with subsequent expansion towards Drobeta Turnu Severin - Lugoj and connection with Motorway A1 on the route Lugoj - Timisoara - Arad - Nadlac).

Current proposed route is Lugoj - Calafat. The first 10.50km between A1 (Balint) and Lugoj were opened in December 2013.
